Shawn Mahon (the owner of Great Heights) had spent 3 years in Asia teaching english and returned to Vancouver will one goal in mind, to become self employed.

He took The Venture Program at BCIT and successfully produced a business plan for a company he hoped to bring to fruition. After the successful completion of the program and while he was exploring how to launch the business plan, he saw an article in The Vancouver Sun about high rise window washing.

Having an affinity for heights and for danger, danger is not by the way his middle name, it’s Thomas. He thought this work would be a fun way to pay the bills until the plan was realized.

It wasn’t long before Shawn understood there was a huge opportunity to turn the experience he’d gained from working high above the city into an actual business.

Using the lessons he learnt in The Venture Program and the skills he learned working on some of the tallest buildings in Vancouver he focused his energy on this new path.

He used this positioning to land his first contract, incorporated in 2008 and hasn’t looked down, or should we say back since.

The future definitely looks bright with Great Heights.
